Garlic Clove

For those of you that live on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, you have no doubt heard of a great little French restaurant called the Garlic Clove. I have lived here for almost 17 years now and for as long as I can remember they were always in the same place. Tucked away in a little shopping centre in the middle of residential Boonaroo Park/Carrara.

They always had a great selection on the menu and they also had a 3 course set menu for some incredible price like $35 per person. It was great value. The food was superb and every time our group of friends went there we had a ball.

About 6 months ago I drove past and noticed that they were gone from where they had always been. It was a shame to think that we wouldn’t be able to enjoy such a wonderful icon again.

However, I have discovered recently that they are not gone, simply moved to a new location :). The Garlic Clove has reopened in the lovely Emerald Lakes Estate. With a lake front position and lots more room.

Excited to learn they were still around, I ventured there with my daughter a few weeks ago for a special birthday dinner. To my surprise, on a Wednesday night,  it was absolutely  packed. Seriously, every table was full and they had a function on as well.

Their 3 course set menu is still available, now at just under $50 per person and it is just as good as ever. In fact, we had to take our desserts home in a doggy bag because we had eaten so much already. By the way, the Chilli Chocolate Mud Cake was divine.
